Upon admission to the group of educational programs B042-“Journalism and Reporting” for a state grant, applications and creative exams are accepted at the location of the International University of Information Technologies, at the address: Almaty, st. Manas 34/1 Zhandosov corner.

HOW ARE CREATIVE EXAMS?

The purpose of creative exams is to check the applicant’s readiness to study in educational programs in the field of “Journalism and Reporting” In this way:

– evaluate the creative potential of the applicant;

– identify written and oral knowledge, skills and abilities in the communication field;

-determine the applicant’s motivation for entering this educational program and the desire to work in the profession upon graduation from the University.

A WRITTEN EXAM

The 1st creative exam is conducted in writing in the form of an essay for one
from given topics.

– The envelope contains 3 essay titles, reflecting the current problems of the modern world and corresponding to the educational program of the applicant. Sheets with essay titles are sealed in envelopes. The applicant chooses one of three topics.

– An essay on a given topic – a written presentation in an arbitrary prose form and composition of individual opinions, impressions, reflections.

– The style of presentation is literary or journalistic, the language is within the framework of the lexical, morphological and syntactic norms of the school curriculum.

– The main requirement for the essay is the disclosure of the stated topic, literacy.

  • The time allotted for the essay is 3 hours.

  • Essay volume – 3-4 pages (minimum 1500 characters).

  • The highest score for an essay – 45 points

– Essay evaluation criteria:

  • reveal the topic, content – 15 points 
  • structure, compositional completeness – 15 points
  • language and style of presentation, imagery, literacy -15 points

Oral exam

The 2nd creative exam is conducted orally and consists of two tasks.
1 task: defense of a given creative project or submission of published works (condition: the applicant, if available, provides published works, in the absence of works, submits a project)
– Creative project
– Public presentation by the applicant
own creative solution to achieve the goal in the task.
– Applicant chooses one topic out of three
suggested)
– Presentation protection time is no more than 7 minutes, 8 minutes.

2nd task – answers to examination questions to identify the general outlook of the applicant.
The highest score for the oral exam is 45 points

– Evaluation criteria for the oral exam:

  • Presentation of published works (articles, scripts, etc.) or project presentation – 15 points

  • general outlook of the applicant – 15 points

  • the ability to express one’s thoughts, the richness of speech, oratory, diction, etc. – 15 points

The 2nd creative exam is not subject to appeal, since it is oral and is taken collectively by the entire composition of the commission.

IT NATION SUBJECT OLYMPIAD:

What is the IT NATION Subject Olympiad? IT NATION is an annual subject olympiad held by MUIT, where participants can win a grant for training.

This year the Olympiad is held in 5 disciplines, such as: digital journalism, mathematics, physics, sports programming and economics.

Stages of implementation:

Round 1 (Remote) – qualifying, will be held on 6.05.2023
Round 2 (Remote) – final, will be held on 14.05.2023
Both rounds of the Olympiad will be held in a remote format, which means that you can take part from anywhere in the world. The Olympiad will be held on the same day, at the same time. This means that for this reason it will be impossible to take several subjects at once.
For prizes:

1st place – A Rector’s grant (100% discount) for all years of study or a scholarship in the amount of 30,000 tenge, while maintaining a level of academic achievement of at least 70 points (C+) (subject to training on a state grant);
2nd place – A Rector’s grant (50% discount) for all years of study or a scholarship in the amount of 20,000 tenge, provided that the level of academic performance is not lower than 70 points (C+) (subject to training on a state grant);
3rd place – A Rector’s grant (25% discount) for all years of study or a scholarship in the amount of 10,000 tenge, provided that the level of academic performance is not lower than 70 points (C+) (subject to training on a state grant);

When will the Olympiad be held this year?
Registration for the Olympiad ends on May 4. The first round will be held on May 6, and the second remote round will be held on May 14.
